First, PBS offered up a remixed video of gentle Mr. Rogers, which quickly went viral, and now they're offering one featuring equally gentle TV painter Bob Ross, who hosted "The Joy of Painting" from 1983 to 1994. The painter died in 1995 at age 52 of lymphoma.
As with the Rogers video, Ross' three-minute auto-tuned offering was remixed?by mash-up artist John D. Boswell.?In it, the Afroed artist is seen in clips from his show, demonstrating the art of landscape oil painting for viewers.
Ross' famed hairdo changes in size as the clips are cut together, and the song sings of his famed "happy little clouds" and "happy little trees."?It also?mixes together Ross' artistic encouragement, blending lines such as "make love to the canvas," "there are no limits here," and "this is your world, you are the creator."
"I believe, I believe, every day's a good day when you paint," the song announces, in true Ross fashion.
Fans were already remembering the painter via comments on the video's YouTube page, and wondering which PBS icon would be next to get the remix-autotune treatment. One reader suggested "Reading Rainbow" host LeVar Burton.
