My entry for the Come Home to a Cuppa?Linky Challenge, sponsored by Cravendale We haven't been on a family abroad holiday since 2003, but we have been away to stay with family in various parts of the country to get a change of scenery.
Packing for a family of 7 is always a challenge, and despite my eldest being more than capable of doing it themselves it always seems to be my job!
So, what is on the list I hear you ask?
Underwear - a pair of undercrackers & socks for every day you are away and a couple of spares (especially important for the toddler)
Capsule wardrobe - I always try and pack things that can be mixed and matched and I make them wear there jeans as that always makes the cases heavier, also including at least one snuggly warm jumper for those days when the temperature cannot seem to get above freezing.
Pac-a-Macs - I don't care if the five day forecast says glorious sunshine all week, on past experience THEY LIE!!
Toiletries - The usual Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Deodorant, Toothpaste and brushes. ?I do tend to buy unisex ones (apart from the deodorant), as I refuse to cart about several shower gels just because they all like different ones.
Swimming Costumes - just in case we get to a pool or the beach!
Nappies & wipes for the baby
I rarely take towels as these are normally supplied, but I do check first.
Then there is the really important stuff:

The iPad was a family Christmas present last year and has been invaluable. ?We have bought a headrest attachment so that the kids can watch films on long car journeys and it has been a real life saver in stopping bored children whinging!
We then have to fit in the buggy, raincovers, a few much loved toys and a whole heap of patience!
Hubby normally sorts out the house as he is very particular about switching everything off at the plug, with the exception of the fridge / freezer, which I ensure is stocked with a loaf of bread and something I can put a meal together with for our return and?Cravendale Milk?for that well earned cuppa!!

TERRE HAUTE ? Pink lined the office walls as volunteers streamed in, ready for another year of the fight against breast cancer.
Sunday afternoon, volunteers began signing up for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure inside the Wabash Valley affiliate?s office inside Meadows Shopping Center. Shirts, bags and other collectibles were ready for purchase, part of the organization?s ongoing efforts to cure the disease.
Lorrie Heber, chairwoman for this year?s race, said more than 225 volunteers participate each year, working to host the race, which draws some 3,000 to Terre Haute.
?It takes a lot of volunteers to put on the Race for the Cure,? she said Sunday afternoon.
This year?s event will be Sept. 29 at the Indiana State University Hulman Memorial Stadium, with participants finishing at the 50-yard line.
For the first 13 years, the event was hosted at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College before moving to Terre Haute?s downtown area the last few, Heber said.
While the downtown location added greater visibility, traffic was an issue, and the group missed the ?village atmosphere? from the college. The move to the stadium is hoped to combine the best of both, she noted.
Jay Jensen attended the afternoon orientation, signing up for his first year as an official volunteer. His wife, Patti, is a longtime volunteer and coordinator for the race, he said.
?I think it?s a worthy cause,? the 67-year-old retiree said. With 45 years of retail experience culminating in the management of Osco Drug Store, Jensen remarked that his mother-in-law was a victim of breast cancer, making the disease ?near and dear? to his own heart.
Heber said one out of every eight women will face breast cancer at some point, as will some men.
?Breast cancer is best dealt with when it?s caught early,? she said, citing mammograms as a key to prevention.
But women throughout the Wabash Valley have a hard time affording mammograms, and among the projects supported by Race for the Cure funds is provision to those in need, she said.
This year the group hopes to raise $112,000, aiming to bring in about $60,000 from corporate sponsors and $40,000 in registration fees.
?And we?re right on target for meeting that,? she said.
In addition to the Race for the Cure, the Wabash Valley affiliate will host ?Pink Ladies Nights? at the Crossroads Dragway on Aug. 3, Sept. 7 and Oct. 5. A golf outing is planned for Aug. 12 at the Turkey Run Golf Course, and a bass fishing tournament will be conducted Aug. 25 at Lake Monroe.
Abby Floyd, this year?s volunteer coordinator, said she?s helped in the past, but this will be her first turn to help chair the event.
?It?s good to show support for the community,? she said, adding that funds raised at the local event stay local.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI ? In response to complaints and concerns raised by the people of the Virgin Islands (VI), the Government of the VI, Ministry of Communications and Works (MC&W), under the supervision of Hon. Mark Vanterpool, has recently introduced a project, with its aim solely to reconstruct and rebuild damages caused by a dreadful storm in October of 2010.
During a press conference held at the Treasure Isle Conference Room, the ?Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project? that was introduced and launched to the public earlier today, July 30, 2012, was attended by the Director of Communications Arliene T. Penn, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works Arlene Smith-Thompson, Premier of the Virgin Islands, Hon. D. Orlando Smith, Chief Economist at the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Mr. Carl Howell, Minister of Communications and Works Hon. Mark Vanterpool and the Chief of Infrastructure Planning Research and Development and Project Coordinator in the Ministry of Communications and Works Dr. Drexel M. Glasgow.
Hon. Vanterpool, informed this news site that the project was created to focus on specific areas in the Territory that are very dangerous. ?There are certain areas in the Territory that are very dangerous as a result of the storm, so we were anxiously waiting for this improvement.?
The Minister added that ?now the funds are available the reconstruction of these damages depends on how quickly the project team attacks the project.?
Hon. Vanterpool said that the matter on hand is a very crucial topic and his department will be moving very swiftly to get these projects and damages around Tortola under control and safe for its people. He said that the ?project will take probably a year or two for the works to be done and for the Ministry to pin-point other areas that needs fixing.?
Prior to the work being done around the VI, workers of the Minister?s department will be engaged in a two day session dubbed as ?Procurement workshops?.
During those workshops, he indicated that the workers will be trained on how best to procure materials and services to get the best cost benefits.
With his Ministry previously engaged in energy conservation and now infrastructure rehabilitation, Hon. Vanterpool said they are all according to the plans that were included into the present government?s manifesto. He added that ?it is not what?s next for the Government but for each area the plans are being put in place.?
The Minister assured this news site that the work that will be done during the process of this project, will in no way affect the upcoming emancipation festival celebrations.
He added that any work being done will be put on hold until August 13, after the festival.
?We will work up until this weekend and then stop work until after August 13, 2012, after the festival.?
Role of CDB in Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project
While giving brief remarks at the press conference held this morning, CDB?s Chief Economist Mr. Howell stated that CDB is driven by its mandate to contribute to the harmonious growth and development of the Caribbean region and to reduce poverty. He added that by doing this, the bank has been able to leverage the skills set of its highly motivated staff to support positive development outcomes in the region.
Mr. Howell further stated, that through the provision of loan finance, policy advisory and technical assistance services and support, CDB has been able to support many countries in the region to build economic and social sector resilience and to improve recovery time following an unfortunate natural hazard event.
In reference to discussions between senior management of CDB and the Premier of the Virgin Islands, he added that the bank is in the process of preparing a country strategy for the VI that is forecasted to be introduced to the board in December.
?The country strategy will essentially set out how the bank believes it can best assist the country?s development objectives, over the next three years.?

LONDON?? Police lost a set of keys at Wembley Stadium last week but security was not compromised at the London Olympic soccer venue, officials said Monday.
"On the morning of Tuesday, 24 July officers on the Olympic policing operation at Wembley Stadium reported that internal security keys, being used by them as part of searches, were missing," Scotland Yard said in a statement.
"Officers attended the venue to assist in a search for the missing items but nothing was found. There is absolutely no security concern in relation to the stadium as measures were taken immediately to secure all key areas of the venue,? the statement said.

Organizers of the London Olympics stressed that relevant locks have been changed and there was no security breach. Police declined to provide more details about what the keys were for.
Embarrassing The key incident appeared harmless, but it was embarrassing for officials who are already on edge defending security arrangements for the London Games.

Just days before the games opened on Friday, Britain's government had to deploy thousands more servicemen to protect Olympic venues after private security contractor G4S admitted it could not hire enough security guards for the event.
Some of the servicemen called in on short notice have seen their leaves cancelled, while others have only recently returned from tours in Afghanistan.

The first Olympic soccer games held at Wembley were played on Sunday, but many in the crowds were unable to eat or drink because the stadium?s food stands were unable to accept credit cards, The Guardian reported.

"We understand that Wembley's systems failed and therefore they were only accepting cash at the food and beverage kiosks. This cash only decision was made by Wembley management and not Visa. We are working with the Wembley team to help them fix this as soon as possible," the newspaper quoted a Visa spokesman as saying.

Retail giant Walmart Stores has unveiled California?s first Walmart Neighborhood Market at 21132 Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach on 27 July 2012.

HOUSTON (AP) ? The former three-term mayor of the Texas border town Eagle Pass has died of cancer.
The Yeager Barrera Mortuary in Eagle Pass said Chad Foster died Saturday in a Houston hospital. The mortuary is responsible for his funeral.
Foster was re-elected to a third term in office in May 2008. He also served as chairman of the Texas Border Coalition, a group that focuses on economic and development issues of towns along the Texas-Mexico border.
Eagle Pass' current mayor and chairman of the Texas Border Coalition Ramsey Cantu said in a statement that the region had lost a "devoted friend and public servant."
Foster is survived by a son and a daughter. The mortuary could not immediately confirm Foster's age or provide details on funeral arrangements.
India's central bank on Monday called on the government to help reduce inflation as it hinted it was unable to cut interest rates further to spur the flagging economy.
The Reserve Bank of India, which holds a policy-setting meeting on Tuesday, said there were still risks that inflation could take off again despite the economy growing at its slowest rate in nine years in the first quarter.
"Persistence of inflation, even as growth is slowing has emerged as a major challenge for monetary policy," it said in a report released on the eve of its meeting.
In comments directed at the government, the RBI also said that "the lack of a quick policy response to address structural bottlenecks and encourage investment exacerbated the (economic) slowdown".
